As an awareness level employee, responder, veterinarian you should be able to recognize that a chemical release has occurred or is occurring as well as make an attempt at determining its identity. Awareness level employees know how to protect themselves and others, get assistance, and secure the area.
This 2-day course includes an 8-hour practical animal decontamination exercises with live animals from service, working and companion animals to livestock. A large animal livestock system is provided for low stress handling. Meets the requirement for FEMA participation of animal decontamination exercise.
Initial and annual refresher training is required for: (1) employees and supervisors at hazardous waste cleanup sites; (2) employees at hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) facilities; and (3) employees participating in emergency response operations for releases of or substantial threats of releases of hazardous substances without regard to the location of the hazard. For (3) above, emergency responder training levels include: first responder awareness level, first responder operations level, hazardous materials technician, hazardous materials specialist, and on scene incident commander. Training elements depend on the trainee’s duties.
Cost: $400 per person (minimum 20 people)
